Some Small Fuselage Doublers

They're really small - maybe 3" long, 1 1/2" wide - and completely hidden behind the radiator scoop, but I assume they must be important. I hope so; it took me an hour and a half to get the four of them cut out and properly beveled to blend in with the existing doublers.
I also glued up 5 pieces of plywood in preparation for building the landing gear blocks.

Side Project: Train Table - Done!

Added the last 3 pieces for the apron, sanded everything smooth, and added some oak buttons to cover the countersink holes.

Radiator Exhaust Door

Wow - it's been over three weeks since I last touched this thing. I can't afford to have many more breaks like that if I'm going to get this thing done by August.
Worked on the radiator exhaust door, a small little part on the underside of the aft fuselage. But this small part required two reinforcing dowels, contour sanding, and some careful positioning within the fuselage reinforcements.

Side Project: Train Table - Frame

Finished the frame of the table - all four legs plus the four stretchers. Used my "new" jointer for the first time to even out the glued-up legs - it worked like a champ. My young apprentice Alex came down and joined me today. His assistance in driving screws was greatly appreciated, and I will fondly remember this as the first time he's really helped out in the wood shop. I wish the camera were working so I could have taken a picture of him in his safety goggles, ear protectors, and apron. Unforgettable...
All that remains on the table is the aprons and the table top. I hope to deliver it to the new owner by next weekend.

Side Project: Train Table - Legs

Finished two of the legs: cut the shoulders, cut the legs to length, and sanded them. Also glued up the next leg. I really need more clamps so I can glue up all the legs at one time...

Side Project: Train Table

When my oldest son got his Brio train system a couple of years ago, I built him a train table to put it on. Now I'm building another for a friend's son. Tonight I continued gluing up the 1x3's for the legs.
